What Age Can I Get a Real Estate License In North Carolina?
Over the past decade, the real estate profession has gained tremendous popularity. Online real estate licensing courses make becoming a real estate agent more accessible than ever before. The profession is exciting and can be very rewarding, making it a desirable career path for people of all ages. So, how old do you have to be to get a real estate license?
State Regulations
In most states, you must be at least 18 years old to obtain a real estate license. However, some states allow individuals as young as 16 years old to obtain a real estate license. North Carolina law requires individuals to be at least 18 years old to obtain a real estate license, which means one can pursue a career in real estate as soon as one becomes a legal adult. However, in North Carolina, you can be an active licensee prior to completing the post-license classes. The pre-licensing courses would need to be completed within 18 months of issuance of the license or it will go inactive.
Required Education
Unlike many other career paths, becoming a real estate agent does not require several years of training and education. To become a real estate agent, you must attend pre-licensing courses, pass a state-administered entrance exam, and attend post-licensing classes. However, all the education required to enter the real estate profession can be completed in as little as a few months. You can even complete all the required education online from an accredited provider. North Carolina law does not require individuals to have a high school diploma to obtain a real estate license. As long as you complete the required pre-licensing courses, pass the state-administered exam, and attend post-licensing classes, you can receive a real estate license.
Career Potential
Whether you start your real estate career straight out of high school or become a real estate agent later in life, there are plenty of career opportunities to take advantage of. Many real estate agents come from various different backgrounds, and their unique experiences often benefit their careers as real estate agents. With the flexibility to set your own schedule and work as little or as much as you choose, who wouldn’t want to become a real estate agent?
