As an agent, you should always expect the unexpected and this extends into your duties as an agent. As you know, your clients are depending upon you for their home buying and home selling needs, and that means that the more you can the better of a resource you’ll be for your clients! As such, don’t be surprised if you find yourself doing things that aren’t necessarily a part of your job description! Whether it’s straightening up before a showing, helping your clients spruce up their home, or even walking through a home prior to showing to and making sure it’s look the best that it can for your clients!

Don’t be Afraid to Straighten Up

Whenever a client is selling their home, it can be a very busy and sometimes stressful time, so doing whatever you can to ease their burden is something you always try to do as an agent! As such, it never hurts to take a quick walkthrough your client’s home prior to a showing a ensuring that all of the details have been taken care of. For example, are the towels in the bathroom folded and hung on towel racks? Are the pillows and any piece of furniture straight? These are small things that often times can be overlooked, but you as an agent should ensure that they aren’t overlooked in your client’s home!

This is not to say that you’ll be making major purchases for you clients, but small things here and there to help the appeal of the home will never hurt your clients! For example, if your clients are selling during the holiday season, a few pieces of seasonal flora placed around the house is a small, but important gesture that lets your clients know that you’re fully invested in helping them sell their home! In addition, you may find on your walkthrough that a lightbulb has gone out, for example, so don’t be afraid to step in and take care of it! Again, the more you can do for your clients, the more they’ll appreciate your service as an agent!

Walkthrough a Home Before Showing it your Clients

Even if the home you’re showing to your clients is being sold by another agent, it’s best to arrive early a take a quick walkthrough to ensure that everything in the home is tidy! There are plenty of examples of agents showing a home only to realize that the kitchen is a mess, in some cases, that there’s a pet in the house! You’ll want to avoid these unexpected surprises, as they’ll make for memorable experiences for your clients for all that wrong reasons!
