What Personality Traits Make a Good Real Estate Agent?

What Personality Traits Make a Good Real Estate Agent-

A real estate career can be a very successful one, depending on the personal characteristics of the agent.  A lot of agents make their own hours, and need to find their own clientele, so someone who is not a self-starter or motivated would probably not have great success at selling real estate.  Have you been considering a career in real estate? If so, it would be wise to take a self-inventory and ask yourself if you have what it takes to be successful in a real estate career.

  • You need to have a problem-solving mindset. If problems motivate you and you feel you can’t rest until it’s solved, real estate might be the career for you.  There will be a lot of times problems will arise, and having a quick creative solution will help you to succeed.
  • You need to be a self-motivator. Your business will not build itself.  Unless you have a broker that is giving you leads, you are going to have to generate these on your own.  Being creative in your ways to find buyers and sellers and being consistent in your attempts to contact people will result in success.
  • Honesty and integrity are traits that will help you to be successful in real estate. The people you work with want to put their trust in you and feel confident that you are being honest with them.  Your integrity is what will get others to recommend you to their friends.
  • Having an interest in houses and architecture will keep this job interesting for you. It will also give you an advantage over other agents in that your interest level will be evident to your clients.  This will also show them that you care about the industry.
  • An outgoing personality is also an asset in the real estate business. A good real estate agent doesn’t just sell property, they also sell themselves.  People will respond to your real personality, so it’s important to let them see it.  Many real estate agents make friends for life after working together to buy or sell a home.

At the end of the day, you get out of it what you put into it.  There is a certain level of investment needed (time, energy and money) to make any business successful.  If you are passionate about real estate and have similar traits to what you’ve read, you may have a great shot at being a very successful real estate agent.
