Fun Activities in Wilmington NC

If you live in North Carolina, Wilmington is definitely a place to visit for a day or weekend.  Wilmington provides so many things to keep you entertained from water activities to sightseeing and delicious food.  Here are few highlights to make your trip to Wilmington memorable:

The Riverwalk

The Riverwalk is located in downtown Wilmington right along the Cape Fear River.  It is a boardwalk that boasts beautiful views of the river and amazing sunsets.  There are many boutique and souvenir shops along the way to find something special to take home.  There are also many unique restaurants to have a meal.  The Riverwalk also hosts a farmer’s market that is a very popular attraction.

USS North Carolina Battleship

The USS North Carolina took part in nearly every major battle in the Pacific Ocean during World War II and won more battle stars than any other battleship in that same time period. The ship was decommissioned in 1947, and arrived in Wilmington in 1961.  It became a national landmark in 1987 and is worth part of your day to tour it.  It’s amazing to see how the former crew lived and worked in the cramped spaces.

Henrietta III

The Henrietta III is an old stern-wheel riverboat that cruises from downtown Wilmington, to the open water of the Cape Fear River.  It is a fun, historic ride where you can enjoy beautiful views and relive the past.  It also has dining, dancing and a casino.  There are many planned activities that can be booked to attend on the riverboat.

Wrightsville Beach

Wrightsville Beach is just a short drive from downtown Wilmington.  Located on the Atlantic Ocean, it’s a cute little town that has a pier and plenty of beach space to enjoy the day.  Many people come here for surfing and other water sports.  There are also a lot of hole in the wall bars and restaurants that make this a great day trip.

Take some time to visit Wilmington NC.  It is a rare location on the river and near the ocean that provides plenty to do in a day or weekend.
