Breweries Popping Up in Downtown Fayetteville

Microbreweries are becoming more and more popular around the beer drinking crowd.  Fayetteville is starting to catch up with other big cities in opening more of their own breweries.  Here are a few new ones to try along with a couple of ones that have been around awhile.

Lake Gaston Brewing Company

Located in the heart of downtown at 124 Hay Street, Lake Gaston Brewing has brought a new face to microbreweries in Fayetteville. Their website claims “Craft food, and culture providing each guest with a personalized experience every time”.  They are open Wednesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner.  They boast a fully stocked bar, big screen TVs, patio, life size Jenga and cornhole, live music and even beer tasting classes.  Their menu is not large, but has many unique offerings such as specialty fries, sandwiches and tacos.  This sounds like a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Bright Light Brewing Company

Another brewery opened by veterans and located in downtown Fayetteville at 444 West Russell Street.  This brewery came from the owner wanting to share his home brewed beer with others.  You will only find craft beer there and no food.  Luckily there are various food trucks that visit and you can find a variety of different eats on different days.  Bright Light is open Wednesday through Friday, 4:00- 9:00, Saturday 1:00-10:00 and Sunday 1:00-7:00.  Reviews say the beer is great, and the owners are very friendly.  They have a patio that is dog and cigar friendly.  The laid back atmosphere of this brewery hosts live music also.

Dirtbag Ales

Located at 3623 Legion Road in Hope Mills, Dirtbag Ales has been around a little bit longer.  It is a popular spot to sit and enjoy a few beers.  This brewery is owned by a group of great friends and they bring a great vibe to this spot.  They brew their own and usually have at least 8 beers on tap.  They offer beer flights so you can taste many of them.  Although they don’t provide food, there are food trucks that arrive outside and they don’t frown upon bringing your own food.  The outside patio is dog and game friendly.  Reviews brag about their good beer and nice staff.

Even if you’re not a beer drinker, a visit to one or all of these breweries sounds like a good way to spend an afternoon or evening.
